A bouquet and a ring tend to end up in the same photograph. In September 2026, we at Gold&I got to put the two together on purpose, at a floral workshop in Paarl.
Amanda Theron, the founder of Kadou, asked our founder Stephani Cillié to bring her one-of-a-kind jewellery to the Pause floral workshops. The bride models wore Gold&I pieces at the workshop, and the photographs are included in this post.
Below, we cover how Pause works, who runs it, what the three days look like, and how our jewellery came to be part of the shoot.

What Is Pause?
Pause is a workshop for florists, held in Paarl in the Western Cape since 2020. Its organisers describe it as a curated experience for florists who want to slow down, go deeper and find their creative spark again. Each workshop takes a maximum of 18 students and runs for three days.
Two Paarl florists lead it: Anli Wahl of Anli Wahl Floral Design and Amanda Theron of Kadou Floral Artistry. According to the Pause website, over 200 florists have joined the Pause family across 11 workshops. The September 2026 workshop was Pause 12, and it took place at Laborie Wine Estate.
On day one, students work through the principles and elements of design, table flowers and styling, and phone photography. Day two covers bouquet theory, vessels, tablescapes, freelancing etiquette and client relationships. Day three covers pricing, installation theory and mechanics, and a group installation build.
The workshop ends with a styled editorial shoot with a photographer. Every student’s work appears in it, and each student receives professional photographs of their pieces. Our jewellery was part of that shoot.

Amanda Theron and Kadou
Amanda is a floral designer and stylist based in Paarl. Her studio, Kadou, was established in 2012, and her website lists more than 300 weddings designed. The name comes from the Afrikaans rendering of the French word cadeau, which means gift.
Her work has been featured by Top Billing, Bridal Guide, The Pretty Blog, Once Wed, Confetti Daydreams and My Wedding Day. Her website calls her one of the creative forces behind some of the Winelands’ most loved weddings.
How Gold&I Joined the Pause Workshop
Amanda reached out to Stephani with a request to use her pieces on the bride models during the workshop. Stephani agreed, and the jewellery went to Paarl for the 15 to 17 September 2026 workshop.
Stephani studied Creative Jewellery Design and Metal Techniques at the University of Stellenbosch and obtained her Visual Arts degree in 2011. She has made every Gold&I piece by hand, and each is made in precious metals with semi-precious to precious stones. That one-at-a-time approach fits a styled shoot, where no two looks repeat.

What Jewellery Brings to a Floral Editorial
A styled shoot puts many decisions into one frame. Flowers, gowns, tables and jewellery all appear together, so each choice affects the others. Pause teaches florists to plan a full wedding world, from ceremony to reception, and jewellery is part of that picture on a real wedding day.
Having a jeweller on set lets florists see their work on a bride. Students see how metal and stone sit against petals and foliage, and they leave with photographs that show the full look.
Work with Gold&I
Gold&I designs and manufactures custom-made fine jewellery in South Africa. Our collection includes engagement rings, wedding rings and bespoke pieces, from classic solitaires to modern statement designs. Stephani tailors each piece to the client’s style and preferences.
